Why We Love This Watch

Founded in 1882, Zodiac gained commercial success with the Sea Wolf, which was one of the first commercial divers available. Among others, Zodiac also created one of the earliest watches to have a power reserve indicator as well as the first Swiss electric watch via the Dynatron.

Released in 1953 on Basel Fair, it's often forgotten that this was one of THE first divers that stood alongside the legendary Blancpain Bathyscape. One of the most unique things about the Sea Wolf is its unusually thin case for a diving watch. Due to such a thin case, it was arguably the precursor to the recently trending "dressy diver" style. Eventually, due to its popularity and its quality and design, it became a favorite with the Underwater Demolition Team (now Navy Seals). It's rare to have a vintage diving watch that has "vintage" proportions, but more so, to have a pioneer of a watch at such an accessible price. However, with more watch collectors coming into the fold, it won't take long until the Zodiac Sea Wolf joins the ranks of its contemporaries in terms of value.
